Is it fall yet?

So it's really hot out and I want it to be fall.
That being said I created this "hurry up fall look."
Enjoy!

 The colors I used are:
Tiger's Blood & Snuffy

As always start with your base + Awesome Sauce
(or whatever foiling medium you use or you can just use a base)

Apply Tiger's Blood from the duct to the middle of your lid
same thing for the bottom lash line

Next add Snuffy to the remaining portion of lid and drag it under to the bottom lash line
Be sure to blend properly were the two colors meet

Last do you liner and mascara
I use:
  • Elf Liquid - Liner in Black
  • NYX JEP - in Black Bean
  • Cover Girl - Lash Blast Mascara in Black

Antoinette's Revolution Cosmetics Review

This review is looooong over due seeing how I purchased these at the beginning of summer, but better late than never.

I purchased these eye shadow samples when ARC was having a sale, they were 60cents each.
I purchased 8 sample sizes of her colors. They come in little zip baggies normally, but she offers the option of buying 3g pots which were 30cents each for the samples and she will pot them for you if you'd like. I didn't see the 3g pots until after I had placed my order of samples. After I went back and purchased the pots I emailed the owner of ARC and asked if I could please get them potted and she said it would be a problem. She was very nice about it!

A little about Antoinette's Revolution Cosmetics:
I'm a 24 year old nerd who started off in costume design. The costuming led to my introduction to the indie makeup scene. After being disappointed in the quality of some companies and drama involved with others I was left with pigments I couldn't use and a want to do something about it.This is where ARC was born. The idea started in about December of 2010. After two months and hundreds of hours researching I decided to create ARC using my favorite woman in history as our theme.I'm crazy insane about our cleaning/sterilization process and quality control. All of our pigments are mixed by hand in a mortar and pestle and we don't use Lake Dyes unless they already come in our mica supplies. Costuming has sadly taken a back burner but I think when we do photo-shoots I'll be able to merge my two loves.

 How my package arrived
My pigments came in the standard mailer, I don't remember if it was a bubble one or not. Of course I totally spaced on taking pictures of the packaging, but I still have the tissue paper and ribbon that the pigments were in. I hate throwing stuff like that away =)

The pigments came in a zip top baggie, which was carefully wrapped in black tissue paper with a light blue ribbon tied around it. Also included was a cute little button/pin and two free samples. All descriptions of colors are descriptions from the ARC artfire shop.

The two extra samples I received were:
  • Bordeaux is a delicious burgundy with a little bit of a wine tone.
  • Marie is a beautiful soft blue, with tons of turquoise shimmer that makes this color electric! Topped off with hot pink glitter, it's sure to please your inner Queen!

Now for the samples I ordered in their 3g jars:

Velvet Rose is a wonderfully matte dark red. Reminiscent of the soft, rich petals of a red rose

Louis is a beautiful violet, packed with aqua and violet glitter.

Le Dauphin is a very pigmented yellow/gold, and when applied lightly it has a soft golden shimmer to it.

Duchesse! An ultraviolet matte with lime green glitter

Pomp is a glorious light pumpkin orange, dusted with orange and soft yellow glitter.

Patina will give you a rusty good time in this burnt orange-red color!

Guillotine is our deliciously evil crimson red with a splatter of crimson glitter.

Versailles is a sprawling bronze based gold, perfect for any eye color.

Swatches
left side over NYX Shadow Base in White - right side bare skin.
This is 8 layer of build up

Velvet Rose - Patina - Le Dauphin - Duchesse -  Louis

Versailles - Guillotine - Pomp

A quick look I did using Versailles - Velvet Rose & Pomp
Left eye with NYX Shadow Base in White / Right bare skin
this is 3 layers of build up

PROS
  •  The colors are very beautiful.
  • The packaging is very cute & thoughtful.
  • Fast shipping.
  • Very reasonable prices.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Wide range of colors.

CONS
  • While the colors are very vibrant and beautiful, they do not seem to be very pigmented.
  • It takes A LOT of product to build up to the colors that are showed on the site.
  • They are difficult to blend.
  • Some of the more matte colors are "muddy."
  • The red and orange colors stained my skin slightly. I'm not sure if is a problem that just I experienced or if it has happen to others.

In conclusion
ARC is still a growing company and I think some reformulation is in order.
They provide wonderful customer service with in my book is one of the most important thing for a business to provide beside quality products.

Would I recommend ARC?
Honestly at this point in time no, I would not.

Snuffy

Back on the 19th Glitter Bitches Handmade  which is a group of amazing female indie artist, had an awesome sale to celebrate Snuffy's birthday. The shops had different sales going on that day, such as bogo deals, and free surprises with purchase.
I wasn't able to partake in any of the awesome sales, but MSC's deal that day was 5 pigments of your choice for $20 + free shipping and a surprise pigment called Snuffy!
I was sad that I wasn't able to get Snuffy, it was strictly for the sale.
To my ultimate surprise on Saturday when I checked the mail, expecting my what seems to be weekly MSC package, was an extra package! I had no idea what it was. Imagine my surprise when I opened it up and saw SNUFFY! One of the sweet girls on the MSC FB fan page had it sent to me as a surprise gift! I was so over joyed,I actually had tears in my eyes. It's hard to believe that someone would do something so kind.I don't know her outside of FB, she lives in a different state! It warmed my heart to know such kind people still exist in the world. Thank you so very much, Christina <3

Look at this incredible card Wenchkin made for the event.

13 Gypsies Perfumery

A few days ago I received my first order from 13 Gypsies Perfumery, and let me tell you I was VERY impressed with the quality of the products I ordered.

Darla is AMAZING at what she does! I've used other perfume oils in the past that did not hold up very well against my oily skin, but her oils last HOURS. I just had to try some out as soon as I opened my package. I tried out Witches Breath. Here is the shop description of it. "Witches Breath is a one of a kind, ever-changing scent. I guess you could say that it's oil remnants. Before I recycle the glass bottles the single note scents are shipped to me in, I drain them into a larger bottle." This scent smells absolutely wonderful. I will need to get some more of it!

My order was mailed to me in a bubble mailer. When I opened this up the smell reminded me of a new age store and the Renaissance Festival.

Inside the perfume was thoroughly wrapped in bubble wrap. The perfumes themselves were wrapped in a lovely silver tissue paper type material.

The packaging is very cute!
I am in love with the labels she uses <3
On the back of the card is a code for 15% of my next order =)

Also, I got a sample of Ginger Ale soap, which actually does smell like Ginger Ale!

I actually put in a second order before my first had arrived, and am I ever glad that I did because
I really really love everything that I ordered. The perfumes are strongly scented, but not at all over powering. I find myself smelling my arm throughout the day because the oils smell SO SO delicious. A little goes a long way with perfume oils.

There are a ton of different scents to choose from. Here is a link to the master list of scents http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/blog/13GypsiesPerfumery She offers sampler sets of the perfume, so you can try them, before buying a full size.
If oil perfume is not your cup of tea, she also offers soaps, solid perfume, lip balms, body cream, & bath/shower gel.

A little bit about Darla & 12 Gypsies Perfumery
"I have over 15 years of experience & extensive training in the perfume oil industry. I use only high quality grade A oils, which are uncut and do not contain alcohol, animal products or by-products, water, surfactants or other cheap diluents.
Each oil is hand-blended by me (unless stated otherwise) after an order is placed, so most orders ship within 3 - 7 days, but may take a bit longer during certain times of the year or after a sale. If you need your oils by a specific date, please let me know right away.
Oils that contain essential oils may smell slightly different each time you order them, which will be the case with any perfumery you order from. This has to do with the age of the oil, growing condition, the time of year the plants are harvested, how it's distilled, & so on."

Would I recommend 13 Gypsies Perfumery?
Absolutely with out a doubt, YES! You need to check her products out!

Jujubeads Jewelry

I won these lovely earrings in a give way not too long ago. I thought they were so wonderful that I decided to do a review on the company, Jujubeads Jewelry.

Jujubeads makes all kinds of wonderful earrings, ear cuffs, bracelets, necklaces, ear wraps, and charms.

These were sent me by the host of the giveaway, so I'm not sure what the actual Jujubeads shipping packaging looks like.
The earring I received came in this adorable clear gift bag with little white flowers on it. Along with a few business cards, and a information/care sheet for the earrings.

The earring came taped to this little card

Lovely ear cuff style earring set

I would absolutely recommend that you purchase from Jujubeads. She offers lovely jewelry at an affordable price
